Iran’s elite military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has announced the death of its intelligence chief, Majid Khademi, following coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel.
According to a statement carried by Iranian state-affiliated media, Khademi was killed during attacks carried out on Monday, April 6, 2026. The IRGC confirmed that the strikes specifically targeted high-level security infrastructure, resulting in his death.
Khademi had been serving as Iran’s intelligence chief since June 2025, after succeeding Mohammad Kazemi, who was also killed during a brief but intense 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel.
Both the United States and Israel had previously designated Khademi as a high-priority target, accusing him of involvement in activities linked to terrorism and regional destabilization.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump, President of the United States, issued a stark warning, declaring that Tuesday would mark a “day of destruction” for Iran if the strategic Strait of Hormuz remains closed. He further threatened strikes on critical infrastructure, including bridges and energy facilities.
In response, Iran warned that any further escalation would trigger a severe and unprecedented retaliation, signaling the potential for a broader and more dangerous phase in the ongoing conflict.
The developments underscore rapidly rising tensions in the Middle East, with fears mounting over the possibility of a wider regional confrontation.
