U.S. President Donald Trump has said he has no regrets over his decision to launch military action against Iran, insisting that he would make the same decision again if given another opportunity.
Trump made the remarks in an interview with Fox News as the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran continues to raise concerns about its potential impact on the global economy.
Speaking to journalist Laura Ingraham, Trump was asked whether he regretted the decision to go to war with Iran, particularly because the conflict could affect support for his Republican Party ahead of the U.S. midterm elections scheduled for November.
Trump said he does not believe in dwelling on regret, although he acknowledged that people can reflect on decisions they have made.
“If I had to do it again, I would do exactly what I did,” Trump said.
The conflict has continued to affect people’s lives, with rising prices emerging as one of the potential consequences for the U.S. economy.
The increase in the cost of living could also become a political challenge for Trump and his Republican Party as voters prepare to participate in the November midterm elections.
Midterm elections are held halfway through a U.S. president’s four-year term and determine the composition of Congress, as well as various state and local offices.
