Brady Gilmore continued his impressive form in the Tour du Rwanda 2025 by winning Stage 3, marking his second consecutive stage victory. The Australian cyclist, representing the Israeli club Premier Tech, clinched the win in Rubavu, just a day after celebrating his first professional victory in Africa’s premier cycling race.
Stage 3 of the Tour du Rwanda covered 121.3 km from Musanze to Rubavu. Gilmore crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 55 minutes, and 14 seconds, emerging victorious in a seven-man sprint after a select 19-rider group broke away in the final kilometers. Eritrean cyclists Yoel Habteab and Henok Mulubrhan finished in second and third place, respectively.
Among the Rwandan riders, Manizabayo Eric delivered the strongest performance of the day, securing ninth place—just six seconds behind Gilmore.
Gilmore credited his team, particularly German rider Moritz Kretschy, who finished eighth, for his success.
“Wow! This team is amazing. Everybody did a great job, and Moritz was just incredible, pulling on the front for the last 10 kilometers. I knew what was going to happen in the final—I had to get into that left-hander first. I did it, and I got it done. I’m super happy!” said Gilmore.
Despite his stage win, Gilmore remains six seconds off the overall race lead. However, a small gap between the leading two groups at the finish line helped him climb two places, positioning him fourth in the general classification.
Total Energies rider Doubey Fabien retains his lead in the general standings, followed by Delbove Joris in second and Mattheis Oliver in third.
With multiple stages still to come, all eyes will be on Gilmore to see if he can continue his winning streak and challenge for the overall victory in the Tour du Rwanda 2025.
