Al Merrikh SC have parted ways with Serbian head coach Darko Nović following a disappointing run of results in Rwanda’s BK Pro League and international competitions.
The Sudanese club announced the decision on Sunday, November 8, 2026, confirming that it would not continue working with the coach and his technical team.
In a farewell message, the club said: “Thank you, head coach Darko Nović and assistant coaches. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.”
The departures also include Cap Ayman Adar, Cap Ali Jafar and Capt Anas Nasr El Din, who held various responsibilities within the club’s technical management.
Nović’s technical staff included assistants Dragan Culum and Dragan Sarac, goalkeeper coach Dejan Maksic, and fitness coach Marmouche.
Nović joined Al Merrikh in August 2025. During his first season, he failed to guide the club into the group stage of the CAF Champions League, a setback that was repeated in the current campaign.
His departure comes as Al Merrikh sit seventh in the BK Pro League standings with nine points from five matches.
Before joining the Sudanese side, Nović worked with APR FC, leaving the Rwandan club before the end of the season. During his time at APR, he won the 2025 Heroes Cup and the 2025 Peace Cup, while the team finished as runners-up in the 2024 CECAFA Kagame Cup.
