Apple has begun selling its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, with prices starting at $2,000. However, the number of devices available on the market remains limited compared with demand from customers.
The phone went on sale in several countries, including the United States, China, the United Kingdom and Australia, where Apple enthusiasts lined up at stores to purchase the new device.
Sales officially began on Friday, October 23, 2026.
According to Reuters, customers placed orders before the phone’s official launch, with delivery estimates pushed back within minutes to late January 2027 because of strong demand.
Apple has introduced a limit allowing each customer to order no more than two devices. In some countries, the phone has been available exclusively to customers who placed advance orders.
The iPhone Duo features a folding design that allows it to open into a larger display, giving users a screen experience similar to that of a tablet.
Although the device has received praise for its design, some reviewers have identified areas that could be improved, including camera performance and applications that have not been fully optimised for its display.
Market research firm IDC forecasts that Apple will become the leading company in the foldable smartphone market in 2027, competing with established manufacturers such as Samsung and Huawei.
