RDF Officers, Civilians Arrested Over Alleged Public Funds Misuse

Kigali, Rwanda – The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has confirmed the arrest of two military officers and 20 civilians over suspicions of misusing government funds.

In an official statement released on August 5, RDF revealed that all individuals implicated are currently in custody as investigations proceed under the Military Prosecution Office.

The suspects are accused of being involved in the unlawful use and issuance of official documents, as well as diverting public funds from their intended purpose.

“The charges relate to the unauthorized purchase of airline tickets using money withdrawn from the Ministry of Defence’s account,” the statement indicated.

RDF also emphasized that, according to legal procedures, civilians who commit crimes in collaboration with military personnel fall under the jurisdiction of the Military Prosecution and are tried in Military Courts.
